Weekly update. |

|
Dear Residents and Local Businesses, here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, Stoke and Wyken. Officers have been out in stride on bicycles this week, the better weather has returned so we have been out and about patrolling our green spaces, this will be continued whenever possible, some of these areas have included Caludon Castle Park, Barras Heath, Stoke Heath, alongside the River Sowe and Wyken Croft Nature Park.
Officers this week also attended various Gurdwaras and temples on Sunday the 7th for general reassurance patrols, this helps strengthen our communities and bring people together, this initiative aims to strengthen our communities and foster unity among individuals. We typically rotate through different venues each week to ensure that no community feels excluded. It is only through collaboration with you that we can enhance our policing efforts. In conjunction with our green spaces patrols, we consistently monitor several of our hotspot areas for Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). These locations include sections of Walsgrave Road near St. Michael's Church, Riley Square, Hillmorton Road, and Edgwick Park. Officers periodically patrol in these areas to maintain safety, and any individuals engaging in misconduct will be addressed appropriately. Officers have also been handing out various anti vehicle theft devices such as faraday pouches and various literature at the Warwickshire Retail park to keep your vehicles safe, however as a rule of thumb please refer to the below -
West Midlands Police recommends these specific layers to protect your vehicle: Primary Layer: Physical Steering Lock Use a sturdy lock that is Sold Secure tested or Secured by Design approved. Full-cover "Disklok" types are highly recommended as they are difficult to remove and very visible. Secondary Layer: Key Protection Faraday Pouch: Store keyless fobs in a signal-blocking pouch to prevent "relay theft," where thieves intercept the signal from inside your home. Safe Storage: Keep keys well away from the front door and windows to prevent them from being "fished" through a letterbox. Tertiary Layer: Driveway & Technology Driveway Security: Consider installing pull-up metal pillars (bollards) to physically trap the car on your drive. Trackers & Alarms: Use Thatcham-rated category 1 or 2 alarms and tracking systems to help recover the vehicle if it is taken. Final Layer: Habitual Checks Double-Check: Always pull the handle to ensure it’s locked, as thieves may use "jammers" to block your remote signal. Clear the Cabin: Never leave valuables like bags, cash, or electronics on display; even a small amount of change can tempt a break-in
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 17th of June was an especially busy day for Officers from the Stoke & Wyken team, as there was the match between England and Croatia, Officers were on pub watch, which is essentially presence to mitigate any offences and incidents which may occur during the game. On June 17th, police officers assisted the RSPCA by executing a warrant, following the submission and collection of various intelligence reports that led the courts to grant us the authority to proceed. We collaborate closely with numerous agencies to ensure the safety of our streets. As previously stated, any intelligence can prove to be significant and can also be submitted anonymously. We appreciate your interest in this area. While we share various stories submitted by you our audience, we also strive to educate and provide literature that conveys a positive message. However, following last week’s report of a large feline seen near Binley Woods, more local residents have come forward with accounts of their own, Several witnesses, who asked not to be named, describe seeing a large cat like figure moving through woodland and open fields after dusk, as reports continue to emerge, some locals have begun referring to the mysterious creature as “Catfoot”, a nickname inspired by its silent movements and elusive nature. Whether misidentification, escaped exotic pet, or something stranger, the legend of Catfoot appears to be growing. Residents are encouraged to enjoy local wildlife responsibly and, if they believe they have seen an injured, escaped or potentially dangerous animal, to avoid approaching it and report the sightings to the appropriate authorities, where possible, photographs, video footage, and details of the time and location can help wildlife organisations assess reports more effectively. Anyone concerned about animal welfare should contact the RSPCA, while immediate threats to public safety should be reported to the Police via the appropriate non-emergency or emergency number when applicable. https://www.rspca-coventryanddistrict.org.uk/ For focus on big cats - British Big Cats For anything Cryptozoological - Centre for Fortean Zoology Live Chat | West Midlands Police (west-midlands.police.uk) Please be aware that this inbox is NOT monitored 24 hours a day and is purely for non-emergencies.
